Sea Snakes

Sea snakes are found primarily in tropical waters. They are marine reptiles and comprise about 86% of living marine reptiles species. Sea snakes are divided into two subfamilies, Laticaudinae and Hydrophiinae, with the former distinguished from other sea snakes by the fact they are amphibious (living on land and water), rather than aquatic (never leaving the water). Sea kraits are a type of sea snake . Sea snakes of several different species belong to a group related to the cobras. Many advanced species have a well-developed venom apparatus and highly toxic venom. The primary function of venom is to subdue prey, while defense is of secondary importance, and therefore most bites experienced by humans are blank.
